THE GRACE PROJECT
A community service project of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Fort Myers
In July 2021, twenty SWFL Maya youth joined a Maya Culture Camp at the UUCFM. The teachers were Marta Matías and Gabriela Bravo Gonzalez, Maya women from Guatemala. For a week they studied the Maya Calendar, the Maya Cross, the Goddess Ixchel, Maya arts and folk dances, and the Maya Cosmovision. On Saturday night, the children, parents, and Marimba players held a beautiful celebration of their culture.
